The Goathouse Give B&B in Laxton
Laxton is a rural village in north Nottinghamshire, dating from 1066 and the Norman Conquest.
Todays visitors can still see the castle site at the northern edge of the village, and see Nottinghamshires best preserved motte and bailey castle.
One can also go to the fine looking, and beautiful, Church of St Michael the Archangel which dates back to 1190 and is still used today.
Nevertheless, what makes the village of Laxton truly unusual is its continued use of the open farming system.
This system is the only open field system in Europe and one can explore the village on your own or go on a tour, that we can happily organise if you so wish.
The Visitors Centre in the village with free admission and lots more information about Laxton and its history.
In the centre of the village is the pub where one can find fantastic value, locally sourced food, and cordial locals who will merrily tell you a tale or two.
The Goat House at Ivy Cottage is in the centre of Laxton and dates back two hundred years.
It has recently been refurbished to an award winning level, we provide fantastic value for money accommodation with a double bedroom, a twin bedroom and a family bathroom. If you would lilke more information about B&B Laxton then visit www.the-goathouse.com.
