Playing Cards
When I was learning poker, I found myself strictly playing my cards. After starting out way too loose, I decided that if I didn’t have the best hand, I’d fold and wait out the next round. I figured that if playing too loosely didn’t work for me, playing too tight should win for me every time, right? Wrong. The only thing that changed was that I went from losing money quickly to losing money slowly.
Thankfully, it didn’t take long for me to find out that your cards should be the least of your worries. It turns our, what your online poker opponents are holding is just as important as (if not more important) that the cards that are right in front of you. Your position at the table, the way your opponents are betting, the amount of chips that everyone has, and the cards on the table are what you should be considering when you decide on how you should act at the table. I’ve made it a habit to be the last one at the table to look at my cards. I evaluate where I’m at, what my opponents are doing, and what cards I think they’re holding, and occasionally I’ll see what cards I’ve got. Remember this next time you play poker online.
