Mayer Brown

Mayer Brown, one of the oldest law firms in the world, continues to represent a variety of large companies included in the FTSE 100, Hang Seng, DAX, and Fortune 500. The firm also extends its services to more than 30 of the largest banks in the United States.

Basically, the firm specializes in litigation, finance, real estate, corporate and securities as well as in Supreme Court and appellate, among others. Along with the help of an immigrant lawyer named Adolf Kraus, Levy Mayer formed the firm in 1881. After five years and the addition of other partners, the firm’s name was changed into Moran, Kraus, Mayer and Stein. Mayer Brown went through some more changes in the next few years. In 2001, the firm’s name was again changed to Mayer, Brown and Platt. After merging with the UK-based Rowe and Maw two years later, the firm once again changed its name into Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw. A few months after it started to reduce its partners by 10%, the firm officially changed its name to Mayer Brown.

Growing to become one of the world’s largest law firms, Mayer Brown effectively maintains a total of 21 offices and keeps an estimated 1,800 lawyers scattered all over the US, Asia, and Europe.
